Hello boys and ghouls!
Tis' my favorite time of year, OCTOBER! and another opportunity to test my artistic skills with the Inktober challenge! Have you heard of it?
"Inktober is a month long art challenge created by artist Jake Parker that is focused on improving skill and developing positive drawing habits. Every day for the month of October anyone participating in the Inktober challenge creates an ink drawing and posts it online. Remember to use the hashtags #inktober and #inktober2024 if you want your art to be seen by everyone."
{ Check out the website for rules, FAQ's, and more! https://inktober.com/ }
*Fun Fact-The first Inktober was in 2009! And you can look up all the past prompt sets on the website!
I love that you can do whatever you want with it. The 'Rules' are loose and more like guidelines...Just draw something based on the daily prompt-and ink it!
I personally have a difficult time being consistent with this, but despite any set backs/imperfections-I continue to see how far I can get with it each year. Progress not perfection. The practice of it is the purpose. Not the outcome. It's not a competition. But fun to feel like you are joining in on something with tons of other artists too. I love seeing how others perceived the prompts!
I prefer to post weekly, not daily, as I get a little stressed out trying to do it daily....I like to stick to Halloween subjects too, though you don't have to.
Inktober is a great way to keep yourself in the habit of drawing and improving your creative skills... With the chaos of life in 2024-It's hard to take time for the little things that matter-like art!
This project is just a fun way to engage with artists around the world, share your art, celebrate spooky season, get in touch with your inner artist, AND it counts as mental health practice as well!
Try it out, and check out my first 5 of 2024's #inktober! !!!
Happy Haunting! <3
